Public House Brews, Eats & Good Times
Beer News
Head Brewer Matt Burkhardt and his crew have been blowing us away all year with one great beer after another. We’ve expanded our variety, and have seen some really cool things happen. First, the crew stays highly engaged in the process from concept to recipe, and through to brewing. Second, our taproom and pub regulars always have a new beer or variation to try. Third, new beers mean new options for folks across Missouri to try and to love.
Some of our favorite recent releases in the taproom and pub have been nitro versions of our core and seasonal beers. This year, taproom and pub visitors enjoyed a creamy nitro version of Peach Cream Ale, an extra smooth nitro Revelation. On the nitro tap now is the always delicious and roasty seasonal nitro Giddy Goat Coffee Milk Stout. We also had special limited releases of the beloved Hefeweizen and trial runs of an upcoming Pale Ale. In package and on draft, distributed across Missouri, we’ve added the German lager Headshot Helles, and a citrusy Hazy IPA. Check out the Beer Finder to see how many Public House brews are available on tap and in package in your local area.
Support has been incredible, and we are appreciative beyond words. You can be sure there’s much more to love coming from the great minds in our brewery. We’ll keep our website updated on the Beer Page. Stay tuned, and cheers!
Events News
It’s been a roller coaster of a year for our annual events. Oktoberfest was canceled, but all of our events held in The Gardens went on with some special accommodations to keep our staff and customers safe and healthy. The Gardens Opening, Grapes and Grain Run, Crush Festival, and the Pub 2 Pub Run all saw amazing support from our staff, local musicians, and patrons. We are very thankful for the expansive Gardens, providing much needed open-air space! Still coming up, we’ll host Harvest Festival this weekend in The Gardens, and the Holiday Pop Up at the Rolla Brewpub.
Community support continues to be a pillar in both Public House locations. We have been honored to host a variety of groups in our spaces and look forward to many more.
You can keep up on all of our upcoming events, including the live music schedule, on our Event Page. We’ll see you at the Pub and the Taproom soon!
Food News
We have to tip our hats and raise a pint to our Executive Chef Gabe and his team in St. James and also to Pub Manager Danyelle and her team at the Rolla Pub! The pandemic has taken the toughest toll on our kitchen crews. Between menu items being unavailable, to running on low team members, it’s been a challenge that we expect will continue. The menu at the Rolla Pub has remained mostly stable, while the menu at the St. James Taproom has seen many changes.
Most recently, we have moved to a model where we have food items made in the Pizza Kitchen available seven days a week and menu items made in our Taproom Kitchen available Friday at 4 pm through Sunday close. Soon after moving to that model, Chef Gabe went to work on expanding the menu items available from the Pizza Kitchen. Among our favorite additions are Bavarian Pretzel Sticks, Garden Salad, Pizzadilla, and the return of both the Deviled Egg Flight and the Ploughman’s Board. The full menu, including Moondance Farm burgers and our street-style tacos, is available all weekend.
We do our best to update the St. James menu items on our Website Page, but it’s always a good idea to check in on the pinned post on our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information. You’re also welcome to send us a private message on Facebook or give us a call ahead of your visit to the Taproom and The Gardens.
Happy 2022 from Public House!
/in Beer, Events, Uncategorized/by Shana StephensonHappy 2022 from the Public House Crew! Closing out a year and jumping into a new one is always an extra special time at the brewery. We come together to reflect on all the places we’ve been and to plan for where we are headed. It’s also our official anniversary, as we first opened our doors and taps on a cold mid-December day in 2010. Little did we know that the good folks of Rolla, MO would drink us dry in a matter of days! Never would we deny the people beer, so we made more, and the rest is history. 🍻
11th Ale-Iversary
Celebrating eleven years of Public House at the Ale-Iversary Bash on Saturday, January 15th at the Rolla, MO BrewPub. There’ll be live music by John Pratt, Ozark Snappers, Bliss Hippy, and Trilogy from 6 pm – 10 pm. In keeping with tradition, the Public House blessing will be read, and This Creature Beer barleywine ale will release during the event. This Creature Beer is a Pub exclusive and will be available in draft and 4-pack 12-ounce cans. Pub Manager Danyelle and her team will feature Pork Tacos as a special menu item – pair it with a pint of Flynn’s, and you’re headed right down to flavor town. Thank you for your love and support along this journey, and we can’t wait to see you at the Pub!
Flynn’s Irish Red Ale and Best Ever Beer
Flynn’s Irish Red Ale and it’s St. Pat’s-inspired Best Ever labeled counterpart return to our taps and across Missouri in the coming weeks. We’ll tap Flynn’s at both locations the Friday before the Ale-Iversary event, and you’ll see it hit your favorite spots and store shelves around the same time. We’re holding back Best Ever just a bit, and we’ll see those unique labels out on cans and taps around mid-February.
Level 2 Fall Risk DIPA
It’s baaaaack! You asked, and we brewed! Level 2 Fall Risk Double IPA returns on tap and in six-pack cans and a brand new label design! Previously released in the Campus Werks series, Level 2 Fall Risk is intensely hoppy without being too complex or malty. The addition of orange blossom honey adds hints of fruity aromas to the background. With a clean, dry finish, it’s approachable and highly drinkable. Brewer Jason Stacy, for whom the beer was originally brewed, says it best, ” It is very well balanced and a bit dangerous”. Look for the release of Level 2 Fall Risk later this month.
Miracle on Rolla Street
/in Beer, Events, News/by Shana StephensonMiracle on Rolla Street – a Holiday Pop Up at the Rolla Brewpub
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and the Rolla, Missouri Brewpub, aka Miracle on Rolla Street, is decked out to the nines in celebration. The Brewpub staff came together the Sunday after Thanksgiving – tinsel was hung, lights were draped and wrapped, and the tree required a ladder to assemble and decorate. Public House artist, Travis Watkins, added original flair with several pieces of holiday movie art – The Grinch and Cousin Eddy to name a few. It is a sight to behold, and one to make even Clark Griswold’s eyes gleam! The biggest event of the season, Merry Firkin Christmas, is this Friday, December 17, 2021. Head Brewer Matt Burkhardt and his team are tapping four small-batch beers – one each hour, on the hour – beginning at 6:00 pm.
The Beers –
Enjoy this magical Merry Firkin Christmas evening, snap a photo, post it on your social media with an @ mention shout out to us, and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $25 gift card!

113TH BEST EVER ST. PAT’S
/in About Us, Uncategorized/by Josh StacyThat’s a wrap on the University of Missouri S&T 113th Best Ever St. Pat’s celebrations!
The week, when the university community and the Rolla community become one in revelry, was celebrated to its fullest potential. The week was full of spirit, camaraderie, traditions, and creativity to create safe celebrations.
Yes, the party is over, but the memories live on. Public House Brewing Company photographer, Eric Ginnard, while partaking in his first Best Ever, captured candid moments from two events; Rolla Chamber of Commerce 5K and the traditional painting of Pine Street.

Public House Brew News
/in Beer, News/by Public House Brewing Co.Public House Brew News
What a year it’s been! We have worked harder than ever to bring you beers and events you can get excited about. In the spirit of adaptation, ingenuity, and creativity, 2020’s seasonal, limited release, and small-batch beers have each been nothing short of amazing. In fact, two of these beers will cross over and become official year-round Public House offerings!
Dry Fly Session IPA, with its hop-forward profile and clean finish, joins the ranks as a year-round beer. Quickly rising up as a customer favorite, Among the Willows Pilsner Lager has shot its way to the year-round lineup, too.
As our brew system and crew can manage only five core beers, Hide and Seek Hefeweizen and Frisco Amber Lager will no longer be year-round beers. This was a tough decision! We have a strong adoration of Hide and Seek, a classically brewed German Hefeweizen we introduced you to when we first opened the Pub. Frisco’s strong American classic lager taste and strong character won our hearts years ago. For a limited time, you can still get these Public House classics in our current Variety Pack. And yes, they’re fresh! The brewery kicked out a fresh batch of Frisco just last Friday.
Even in the wake of a pandemic, Public House Happens. Thank you for adapting with us these past seven months. Thank you for supporting our patios, our package, and our pints. We appreciate each one of you! We feel very fortunate for your support. Prost!
